The content on this website, including information about sleep disorders, sleep testing, and treatment options, is provided by Sleep Medicine Specialists of South Florida for general informational and educational purposes only. It is not intended to be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

Always seek the advice of your physician or other qualified health provider with any questions about a sleep problem or other medical condition. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of something you have read on this website.

Screening Tools Are Not a Diagnosis

Any sleep questionnaires, quizzes, or risk calculators on this website (such as sleepiness or sleep apnea screening scales) are for informational purposes only. They cannot diagnose or rule out a sleep disorder. Only a clinical evaluation, and when appropriate a sleep study, can do that.

Do Not Change Your Treatment on Your Own

Do not stop, start, or adjust CPAP or other PAP therapy, oral appliance therapy, or any sleep-related medication based on information on this website. Talk with your sleep physician first.

Drowsy Driving

If you are excessively sleepy, do not drive or operate machinery. Drowsiness can be as dangerous as impaired driving.

No Physician–Patient Relationship

Viewing this website, completing an online form or questionnaire, or contacting our office does not create a physician–patient relationship. That relationship begins only after you are evaluated by one of our providers.

Telehealth

Sleep Medicine Specialists of South Florida may offer virtual visits. Telehealth services are available only to patients who are physically located in Florida, or in another state where the treating provider holds an active medical license, at the time of the visit. You may be asked to confirm your location at the start of each visit. Telehealth is not appropriate for emergencies, and some conditions may require an in-person evaluation or an in-lab or home sleep study.

Emergencies

This website is not monitored for urgent requests. If you think you may have a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department immediately.

Communications

Please do not send protected health information through website contact forms or unsecured email.

Insurance and Coverage

Information about insurance, sleep testing, or equipment coverage is general in nature. Coverage depends on your specific plan, so please confirm benefits with your insurer.
