Desiree Garcia Anton, MD

Dr. Desiree Garcia Anton is a bilingual (English and Spanish), board-certified physician in Sleep Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Nephrology, based in Miami, Florida.

Dr. Garcia Anton earned her medical degree from the Universidad de Carabobo in Valencia, Venezuela, graduating in the top 25% of her class in 2004. She moved to Miami to complete her Internal Medicine residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, followed by a fellowship in Sleep Medicine at the same institution. She went on to complete a fellowship in Nephrology, training at both the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital and the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

Dr. Garcia Anton has an extensive academic background, having served as Assistant Professor of Medicine at both the University of Mississippi Medical Center and the University of Miami, where she taught and mentored medical students, residents, and fellows. Her research and presentations have focused in part on sleep-related topics, including obstructive sleep apnea and its connection to conditions like obesity and kidney disease.

Dr. Garcia’s philosophy of care is centered on providing compassionate, empathetic, and personalized care tailored to each patient’s unique needs. She believes in building respectful and trusting relationships with her patients while taking the time to understand their concerns, individual needs and goals. She strives to provide thoughtful, evidence-based, and high-quality care while guiding and supporting each patient to achieve the best possible health outcomes and overall well-being.

She joined Sleep Medicine Specialists of South Florida in 2026.
